2015 Autumn Festivals in Gyeonggi-do

Autumn, the season when scenery will become more vibrants as the greens turn reds, yellow and oranges, as the air grows brisk, and new semester begins again. However, it does not mean that you can't travel around because it is absolutely the right time to embrace mother nature outdoors, so if you’ve been holding back all summer for a trip, its time to act. In this great season when temperature is neither too hot nor cold, you can snag a good chance to travel to new places in and experience new culture. 

To give you a kickstart on your travel itinerary,  here is the list of Autumn festivals held in Gyeonggi-do that will be happening this month: 

1. Anseong Namsadang Baudeogi Festival (안성 남사당 바우덕이축제)

Namsadang Baudeogi Festival, a popular culture and art festival, will be held in the hub of art and culture in Anseong. During the festival, visitors can look forward to parades, performances, hands-on activities, exhibitions and contests. Programs such as Baudeogi (leader of one of the best Namsadang groups) memorial ceremony, parades, an opening ceremony, special autumn events, guerilla performances, the Anseong citizen Beona-dolligi (dish spinning), themed village and connecting farm village experience are available.

2. Guri Cosmos Festival (구리 코스모스 축제)


The Guri Hangang Park offers a bastion where you can feel the cool breeze coming off the river and take a rest amidst the beautiful natural scenery. The park’s bounties of flowers are at their peak during May with the blossoming of canola flower, and September when the cosmos bloom.

3. Icheon Rice Cultural Festival (이천쌀문화축제)


Icheon Rice Culture Festival in Icheon combines the experience of great quality rice that fed the royal court and the culture of harvesting rice. There's a reenactment of a parade where rice was prepared and presented to the king, as well as a variety of foods to try, including a huge iron pot rice bow from which thousands of people eat.

4. Jarasum International Jazz Festival (자라섬 국제 재즈 페스티벌)


The festival was designated as one of the “Outstanding Festivals” for three consecutive years by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and is also crowned as one of the “Top Festivals” in 2014. As a Green Life Honorary Ambassador, the festival is also passionate about environment protection. In order to share the external growth with the community, the festival holds a Gapyeong band contest, publishes a Gapyeong restaurant guidebook, and produces Jazz Makgeolli and Jazz Wine made from the region’s products.

5. Namyangju Slow Life International Festival (남양주슬로라이프국제대회)


Slow Life International Festival will be held in Namyangju city and is held to share daily happiness and create a slow life world in the slow life planet. During the festival, a special food table culture from over the world will be featured. Immerse in a world of health, happiness, joy and pleasure at Namyangju-si as the festival will be held for 10 consecutive days.

6. Suwon Hwaseong Cultural Festival (수원 화성문화제)

Suwon Hwaseong Cultural Festival is a landmark festivity held in the Suwon region every October in celebration of Suwon Citizen’s Day. A range of events including the Reenactment of the Royal Parade of King Jeongjo the Great (22nd ruler of the Joseon Dynasty), Jangyongyeong Guards Ceremony, Citizens’ Parade, and other traditional performances are held. As an added bonus, the Hwaseong Food Culture Festival is held during the same period, allowing guests to sample traditional dishes from around the world and enjoy a full program of performances.

7. Yeoju Ogok Naru Festival (여주오곡나루축제)

The Silleuksa Temple Resort area hosts the Yeoju Ogok Naru Festival. This festival is a great place for visitors to see Yeoju's argricultural and local products, such as rice, sweet potatos, peanuts and fruits.
Period: 30 October ~ 1 November, 2015
